Alright, that quote from my dog might be biased or completely fabricated. Here is a real quote about my gym: “The only gym I would ever belong to!” -Tom
Since 2016 I have been the proud owner of On Target Fitness, in Portsmouth, NH. In addition to accolades from my dog, Tom, and countless other clients, I have been featured in The New Hampshire Union Leader, Seacoast Online, Business NH Magazine, and The Portsmouth Herald twice. In November 2018 I had the honor of receiving the Results Fitness Business Owner of the Year Award. In April I accepted the 2019 Entrepreneur of the Year Award from the NH SBA and in October I was again a finalist for the Results Fitness Business Owner of the year award.
I credit these successes to my experience serving as an Officer in the Marine Corps, to amazing mentors, and to a world-class team at the gym. I currently enjoy a spartan lifestyle aboard my 36 foot 1967 Chris-Craft Houseboat. I like to read, explore the outdoors, and obsess about helping people find their strength."

Pandemic Lessons Learned and Relearned
This is an amalgam of 19 random life lessons I’ve learned or relearned as a result of the pandemic. Enjoy.
Life is hard. About every two years you will go through some kind of personal tragedy. About every 10 years there is a society wide catastrophe. Without diving too deep into what would and would not constitute existence, I’ll say that the bad times make the good times possible.
Good times need to include preparation for bad times.
No Guilt, No Enabling
There is a debate happening right now. What’s the appropriate response to the stresses of the pandemic? Some say you should be reading a library, starting a side business, and mastering theoretical physicals otherwise you lack discipline. Others are saying we shouldnt judge those blaming the quarantine for eating junk, drinking too much, laying around in their pajamas all day, getting fat, and everything under the sun. There is actually a balance.
“I know what I need to do. I’m just not doing it.”
Here is a fun fact. Almost everyone who hires my coaches and I know what they need to do. They want to get in shape and they know what to do. And yet, they are hiring us to help them. It’s a little weird to hire someone to tell you what to do when you know what to do isn’t it?
“Whats” are easy. “Why’s” and “How’s” are where good coaches shine.
If you want to get in shape, you roughly know what to do. Eat better and move more.
Big Messes Require Big Clean Ups, So Start Small.
We’ve all heard “you can’t expect to lose weight that took you a decade to put on in 21 days”. Whether it’s excess weight, or some other mess we need to clean up, the same holds true. Big messes require big clean ups, but small starts work fine.
I’ve had the opportunity to learn from having hundreds of conversations with prospective clients as we make a plan for them to lose weight, eat better, and find their strength. I’ve never talked to anyone
